Company Adds Consulting Practice to Provide Customers Comprehensive Automation, Integration & Data Analytics Solutions for Industry 4.0 Transformation

Waltham, MA—March 17, 2025 – Boston Dynamics, the global leader in mobile robotics, today announces the creation of Boston Dynamics Consulting. The new consulting practice will help companies assess, adopt and implement robotics and AI into their business practices at scale. Will Foss, who was previously on the Board of Boston Dynamics and has advised many robotics & AI companies at both SoftBank and beyond, is charged with leading the new endeavor.

Boston Dynamics has been a pioneer in walking robots for more than 30 years, but AI-enabled robots have only recently begun leaving the lab and performing tasks in real-world applications. As companies begin to adopt quadrupeds, humanoids and other mobile robots into their daily operations, Boston Dynamics Consulting will help customers prepare their organizations to efficiently deploy these new tools and ensure they are boosting productivity, improving safety and maximizing the customers’ return-on-investment (ROI).

“Boston Dynamics has long been a leader in robotics and industrial automation without fixed infrastructure,” said Marc Theermann, Chief Strategy Officer, Boston Dynamics. “Through this new venture, we are giving unrestricted access to some of the world’s greatest AI & robotics minds and industry 4.0 experts. I am excited about this innovative approach to helping companies realize the value of robotic tools, and I’m delighted for Will to rejoin us and build on the direct customer work we have been doing for years.”

“I am pleased to join the Boston Dynamics team and launch our consulting practice,” said Will Foss Senior Director, Boston Dynamics Consulting. “Our team of consultants are not only purpose driven, but are unrivaled in their technical expertise, thought leadership and practical experience. We are committed to improving customer outcomes, and I am confident our work will expedite a new generation of robotics and AI technology adoption.”

Boston Dynamics Consulting is expected to take on clients in a wide variety of potential industries, including general manufacturing, warehousing & logistics, food & beverage, safety & security, and municipal planning. The group will provide services in five key areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence, Embodied AI, and Robotics – With the rapid and exponential growth in AI, ML, and Large Language Models BDC will assist companies in thinking through their robotics strategy for the coming years
  • Automation & Organizational Readiness Assessments – Identify areas of improvement and address tactics to implement robotics and AI that will drive maximum ROI for clients.
  • Data Analysis & Process Improvements – The amount of data that is being produced by modern facilities is enormous. Autonomous inspection robots increase this data exhaust by tetrabyes every hour. BDC will help businesses develop and improve their internal processes to handle this vast amount of data and gain valuable insights
  • Humanoid Readiness Assessments – With our experience building and deploying robots and the rising interest in general purpose humanoids, our team will help customers evaluate their readiness and fit for humanoids and help design an implementation strategy that achieves real business results
  • Integration & Execution Services – Working alongside organizations, teams from Boston Dynamics will help businesses effectively adopt robots and AI at scale.

The development of Boston Dynamics Consulting comes one year after the launch of Orbit, the company’s robot AI layer and fleet management software, and the reveal of its electric Atlas robot, a new commercial humanoid product which Hyundai will begin testing later this year.
